Creating Slade-Max

This tutorial demonstrates how to animate the Slade-Max sample content using the aniamtions in Slade-Maya.facefx.  Slade-Max is a max cahracter that doesn't come with a corresponding .facefx file.  Instead, you can alter the reference pose and bone poses in the Slade-Maya file so that they will work on Slade-Max.  You can do this from the no-save evalaution to test out the Max plugin workflow though you can't save out the Slade-Max.facefx file.

  1. Open the Slade-Max.max file in 3D Studio Max.  It's found in the Samples/Src directory of your FaceFX installation folder.
  2. From the FaceFX Max plugin, load up Slade-Maya.facefx found in  the Samples directory of the FaceFX installation.
  3. Go to Frame 0, and Export the reference pose. Select all of the bones in Slade-Max
  4. Click on the Batch Export button and select the Slade-Batch-Export.txt file found in the Samples/Src directory
  5. That's it.  The reference pose and all bone poses have been replaced with Slade-Max's targets.  The animations that were originally created with Slade-Maya can now be imported onto Slade-Max.
